New EPF Form 11 – Employee Declaration form & Replacement for EPF Form No. 13 (PF Transfer)

EPF Form 11 is a declaration form which has to be submitted by an employee when taking up new employment in an organization which offers EPF Scheme (Employees Provident Fund). This form contains basic information regarding the employee like – name, date of birth, contact details, previous employment details, KYC (Aadhar, Bank account, PAN etc) details.

As of now, when you are joining a new employer, and if you have contributed to EPF in your previous employment then you have to submit both Form No. 11 (Declaration form) and Form No. 13 (for PF transfer from old EPF account to you new EPF account).

The EPFO has recently (23-Sep-2016) issued a notification on new EPF Form 11. The new Form 11 is a one page declaration form and a simplified version of the existing Form 11.

Latest update (27-Sep-2017) : The EPFO has released a revised Form – 11. This new Composite Declaration Form replaces the existing Form-11 and can also be used for automatic transfer of EPF account on job switch. For more details, kindly  visit this link and ignore the details given in this article.

As per the notification, the Declaration Form (New Form No. 11) will also replace Form No. 13 in all such cases where existing EPF member makes a request for transfer of his fund availing the facility of UAN (Universal Account Number).

So, if you have been allotted a UAN number and your KYC details have been verified by your previous employer, you can just submit new EPF Form 11 to your new employer. You can access this new EPF Form 11 through UAN member portal. There is no need to submit Form No. 13.

    Hi Sir,
I ve resigned from company on March 2017, and i am trying to withdraw my PF in full now. My UAN is activated. I had updated Aadhar info in UAN portal 2 months back, but showing as still approval pending. Also I got my aadhar card only an year after joining my previous company, so unlikely i might have filled the new FORM 11. How can i go ahead in claiming my full PF amount. Is it possible online? Or else if i need to go to the previous employer, which forms do i submit, the composite 19/10C aadhar or the composite 19/10C non- aadhar. A help much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jai

    Dear Sreekanth,

Can you please advice on ESI
“If the employee gross salary/wage is more than applicability limit (Rs.15000) will he be eligible for ESI?”

  • Keerthi says:

    Hi,

We have an employee who at the time of joining is above PF applicability limit and he submitted Form11.So we didnt add him for PF.Now after 1 year he is requesting to aad him for PF benefit. Is there any possibility to add him from current month. Please advice

    • Dear Keerthi ..Has he/she contributed to EPF scheme earlier with previous employer (if any)??

      • Keerthi says:

No he doesn’t have a PF account in previous organisation. Please let me know the other alternate also i.e., if he has PF account in previous organisation

        • Dear Keerthi,
If he had contributed to EPF scheme earlier through his previous employer, it is mandatory for him to contribute to EPF Scheme, if the same is available in the new organization.

          • Keerthi says:

            Hi Sreekanth,

Please advice me in this case – ” Suppose the employee doesnt have a PF account in previous companies and he submitted form 11 in our organization at the time of joining as he salary is above PF wage limit. Now he is willing to contribute for PF.Then ,can we add him from current month?

          • Dear Keerthi,
I believe, you can add him to the EPF Scheme. But do let him/her know that once an employee starts contributing to EPF scheme, he may have to keep his contributions going.

    • Sreekanth Reddy says:

My previous employer had a private EPF trust and new employer uses EPFO. My previous employer had already approved KYC in UAN site. In the case of private trust also is form-13 is sufficient to transfer my account?

    • Dear Krishnakumar,
If you have been allotted a UAN number and your KYC details have been verified by your previous employer, you can just submit new EPF Form 11 to your new employer. You can access this new EPF Form 11 through UAN member portal. There is no need to submit Form No. 13.
You may kindly cross-verify this with your new employer too.

    Hi Sreekanth,

    Thanks for sharing wonderful articles.

My brother sold my fathers house after my father died. I received my share of 30 lakhs INR in my account through this property sale. Do I need to pay tax for this amount? If Yes how it will be calculated please?

    Please provide your comments.

    • Dear prabhakar,
It can be considered as a Gift or amount received through inheritance, it is tax-free.
But if you invest this money say in a Bank FD and receives interest income then it is subject to taxes.
You may show this income as Exempt income when filing your income tax return.
