EPF Withdrawal claim can now be processed by any PF Regional office | EPFO’s New Initiative

An EPF (Employees Provident Fund) member can make ‘full or partial’ Withdrawal claim request. This can be done through two ways – by submitting a withdrawal request form (physically) or through EPF online portal.

An EPF Member who have activated their UAN and seeded their KYC (Aadhaar) with EPFO can apply for below claims through employees UAN interface / portal directly ;

  • PF Final Settlement (Full PF withdrawal)
  • Pension Withdrawal Benefit (EPS withdrawal)  &
  • PF Part Withdrawal (PF Loan / advance)

Once an EPF member submits his/her PF Withdrawal request, the concerned EPF regional office which administers that EPF account only can process the claim.

Your EPF Account is linked to the nearest local or regional office and all claims are processed only through that particular office falling under its geographical jurisdiction. (EPFO body has around 130 Regional offices.)

So if one PF regional office is overburdened with work, claims of EPF subscribers of that office gets delayed.

In such a scenario, the obvious questions that arise are – Can I submit my EPF withdrawal claim form at any EPF office? Will my online EPF claim gets processed by any EPF Regional office?

GOOD NEWS! – Your PF account is no more linked to one EPFO office.

EPFO launches multi location EPF claim settlement facility.

Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has recently launched a new artificial intelligence (AI) tool for auto processing of online EPF claims and also de-linked EPF Accounts from regional offices.

With this multi-location PF Claim Settlement facility any regional offices across India can settle all types of online claims related to provident fund, pension, partial withdrawal and EPF transfer.

EPFO claims that its new AI tool can now uniformly distribute its WORKLOAD among its various regional offices across the country.

The first batch of multi-location claims under this path-breaking project was settled for Gurugram Region on June 10, 2020.

With the launch of this new facility, let’s hope that the EPF claim processing turnaround time gets reduced!

Nice post. Sir, I would like to know about EPF closed. Suppose I have registered myself as a contractor in a government department and opened a EPF. But due to some problem I would not like to continue as a contractor. So in this regard how to close my EPF. Please let me know. Thanks

      Dear Deep,
You can ask your employer not to contribute to your EPF account, if that’s possible. (Kindly note that its the employer who creates the EPF account)
If contributions to EPF account are not made for atleast 2 months, you can withdraw the funds in full (if required).
