EPF Partial withdrawal (PF Advance) for Medical Treatment

An EPF (Employees Provident Fund) member can withdraw his/her PF balance partially for different kinds of purposes like ; for purchase of House / Flat, Site, Construction of house, to meet marriage expenses etc.,

An EPF subscriber can also take EPF advance for the purpose of medical treatment of self / family members. As of now, to make a partial withdrawal for medical treatment, a member has to submit a doctor’s certificate (medical certificate) along with the partial withdrawal form.

To add further convenience to EPF subscribers, an EPF member will no longer be required to submit any Medical certificate or any other certificate or document or proforma whatsoever to avail PF advances for medical treatment purposes.

This new guideline has been included and amended under paragraph 68-J or under paragraph 68-N of EPF Scheme 1952.

EPF members will now only be required to submit a self-declaration for the advance in case of illness of members/ dependents. Differently abled members will also get advance on the basis of self-declaration. No minimum years of service is required.
Kindly note that ‘self-declaration’ has already been included in the EPF New Composite Claim form.

New Composite Claim Form for EPF Partial Withdrawal

The EPFO has recently introduced single page Composite Claim Form for full / partial withdrawals. You can use these new forms to take PF advance for medical treatment.

  • EPF Composite Claim Form (Aadhar) : If your UAN has been seeded with Aadhar and bank details, this form can be submitted for all types of withdrawals. The attestation of employer is not required and this form can be submitted to EPFO directly. Click on the below image to download New EPF Composite Claim Form (Aadhar).
  • EPF Composite Claim Form (Non-Aadhar) : If your UAN has not yet been seeded with Aadhar and bank details, this form can be submitted for all types of PF withdrawals. The attestation of employer is required and the form has to routed through an employer. Click on the below image to download New EPF Composite Claim Form (Non-Aadhar).

A couple of weeks back, the EPFO has also allowed its members to withdraw up to 90% of EPF balance for purchase of House / flat / site / construction of house.

It is nice to see these new initiatives being taken up by the EPFO but they also need to make sure that their online portals are up and live 24/7 (EPFO UAN based portals have been down due to some technical issues for the last many weeks). Also, let’s hope that EPFO will launch their online PF withdrawal facility soon 🙂

A word of advice ; Your EPF contributions / savings are meant for your retirement (long-term). So, think twice before you withdraw your PF money. Try out all the options and sources to fund your expenses or needs. EPF Partial Withdrawals should be your last resort.

  • Hi Sreekanth,

Thanks for the updates. I found out that my PF office is the one in Bommasandra, Bangalore. The lady at the PF office told me that I can send the composite claim form along with a cancelled cheque to the BOM office via post. Is that possible? Would i need to attach any documents other than the claim form and cancelled cheque? If i send the claim by post, will I still be able to track it online? How long will this route take once they receive the claim by post?
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards
    Anil

      • Hi Sreekanth,

Do we need to submit PAN and 15G if the service period is more than 5 years?
        Thanks in advance.

        Anil

        • Dear Anil.. PAN copy has to be enclosed. Surprisingly, the EPFO has been asking for Form 15G from all the offline applicants (irrespective of eligibility conditions..)

    • Dear Prashanth,

Did you submit the claim online or offline? I have submitted an offline claim about a month back and the claim is still not showing up in the EPFO portal. And if you had submitted the claim offline how long did it take to show up in the portal? Also is your claim settled now? Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Sreekanth,
Thanks for the updates. I have a medical emergency in my family. So to make a partial withdrawal all i need is the new composite form. Is that right? Do i need to carry any documents in original/copies? How long does the whole process take to complete form form submission to account crediting?
    Thanks in advance.

      • Hi Sreekanth,

When I am trying to make an online claim I am getting the a message which says Aadhar not authenticated, please visit EPFO office. Can you please tell me how I can get this authenticated? Also how long does it take the EPFO to settle an online claim?

        Thanks in advance.
        Anil

        • Dear Anil,
Your personal details in Aadhaar Vs UAN may be mis-matching.
You may get the linking done by visiting EPFO office.
Though they have said that online claims will be settled on the same day, looks like they are taking 2 to 10 days to process these..need to get a clarity on this!

          • Hi Sreekanth,
So today I visited the EPFO regional office in Trivandrum. They checked and informed me that my PF account belongs to a different PF office and I should submit the claim directly to that office. Can we find our concerned PF office from the UAN number?
            Thanks in advance.
            Regards
            Anil

          • Dear Anil,
Simple way is to check with your employer/ex-employer about the concerned EPF office address where your account is being administered.
You can also know the PF office details based on your EPF account number ..click here..read this article..
