Dear Shri Sreekanth, I appreciate your concern for people like us who do not have in depth knowledge of investing but still would like to in the hope of having a Nest Egg for retirement and beat the inflation by investing in products other than Bank FD, etc. I am a retired person and I have some investments in Axis Long Term Equity Fund, BSL Dynamic Fund, DSP Blackrock Dynamic Asset Allocation Fund, HDFC Balanced Fund, IPRU Focussed Bluechip Fund, IDFC Premier Equity Fund (All these in SIP mode started about 18 months ago) and lumpsome investments in Franklin India Tax Shield, HDFC Top 200, HDFC Balanced Fund, Franklin India Bluechip Fund (All in Growth Option) and IPRU BAF in Monthly Dividend Payout option. I have some investment in PPF which will mature in another two years. At present I have some cash to be invested. My needs are met from rental income and the interst I earn on FD. I would like to invest what ever I can spare in mutual funds so that they can grow and give better returns. Kindly guide me.

Dear Sunil Ji, I believe that you have invested in too many funds and some of the funds are from the same fund category. For example - You have two balanced funds. So suggest you to kindly go through this article and check for overlap among the funds which are from same fund category. Kindly read: Do you have sufficient health insurance cover?
