Name in aadhaar: CHELLLAPPANDIYAN C Name in UAN: CHELLAPPANDIYAN C Name in PAN:CHELLAPPANDIYAN Now, i would like to correct my PAN card name from  CHELLAPPANDIYAN to CHELLAPPANDIYAN C. I have already tried to correct my name through incometax website. but, it is not accepted saying that initials not allowed at first name, last name. Could you please help me to correct my name in PAN card.? Thanks in advance.

Hi, Kindly note that Surname in PAN is mandatory. The above name in PAN can just be a display name. Suggest you to kindly re-check your name format of PAN by visiting Income tax e-filing website. Note that expanded initial (surname) is a must for PAN.

Dear Sreekanth, Thank you for the quick response. I re-checked in the Income tax e-filing website. Under PAN details tab, i see that my Name as CHELLAPPANDIYAN. I don't see other fields such as surname, first name, last name. It is just 'Name' only. Under the same tab, i see my PAN number, Address, Gender, Category, status and Date of birth. All these details are correct and matching. Again in the same website, Under Aadhaar details tab - i see my Aadhaar number and Aadhaar status as 'Linked'. For me the actual problem is that, due to this name mismatch (between UAN and PAN) - when i tried to submit online claim for PF and pension full withdrawal - there was a popup warning me that, there will be a deduction of 34.6%. Is there a possibility to avoid such huge deduction?
Can i still submit my claim using composite claim form (aadhaar)?
   if yes,
Is it mandatory to submit Form 15G? what if i don't submit Form 15G?
Is it mandatory to submit cancelled cheque leaf? please note that, i have linked my aadhaar with UAN account.

Hi, As per the revised guidelines, for issuing PAN cards, the applicant’s Last Name/ Surname is a mandatory field. However, you may be able to get your PAN only with a Last Name or a First Name, which has to be filled in the “Last Name” field. Probably, you would have given your Surname in the 'Last name' field while applying for PAN. So, you need to now decide which one to change among Aadhaar, PAN and EPF UAN account. The name format among the three should be the same. May I know your total Service period?   Related articles:

Dear Sreekanth, I think i will be updating name on PAN card. The reason is that: aadhaar and bank account => Linked aadhaar and UAN account => Linked aadhaar and PAN card      => Linked PAN card and UAN account => not linked.   My total service period is 3 years (from 2010 to 2013). As of 2014 i stopped working in India, moved permanently to abroad.

Hi, Ok. Your EPF withdrawal is a taxable income, whether TDS gets deducted or not. Kindly go through above suggested articles. If you are submitting offline claim then you have to enclose copy of PAN, Aadhaar (if applicable), Cancelled cheque (your name should have been imprinted on it), Form 15G (if applicable) to the EPFO..
