Dear,
As recommended by well wishers and friends i started investing 5yrs back. but now i am realized investing in too many funds is not good. i have no any loan and planned to invest next 5 to10yrs in good funds.(Wealth creation)
so kindly trim my portfolio and advice which fund to redeem or switch. If it is correct i can hold 4 or 5 funds. can i add one midcap fund? (Axis midcap fund)

Hi, Yes, your understanding of the fact that too many funds in ones portfolio may not be really beneficial. You may come out of icici value discovery fund & Birla Focused. Focused funds may have higher risk profilel than Generic Diversified Funds. If you do not want to take high risk you may retain one Focused fund and one Small cap fund only (you have two focus funds and two small cap funds). Below funds are find :
  • ICIC Equity & Debt
  • PP LTE
  • Franklin Smaller Cos fund / DSP Small Cap
  • TATA PE Fund
You may add one diversified fund instead of Focused funds. You may continue with your Debt Funds. Related article : Top 15 Best Mutual Funds to invest in 2020 & beyond | Top Performing Equity Funds

Hi, The listed ones look good. Axis mid-cap & Canara emerging Funds portfolios overlap by around 30%. Though this % is not very high, I believe , adding one more fund can be ignored for time-being.
