Dear Sir, I have short listed Multicap mutual fund for SIP investment with Time horizon of 7-8 years. Fankline India Prima plus is considered as good performer in multicap as per many blogs on internet , but as per website of Franklin this is a large cap fund. Same is case of Kotak select focus fund also. Shall we consider Franklin India prima plus & Kotak Select focus as Multicap fund or not? Regarding other Multicap funds my comments are as under Birla Sunlife Advantage  &  ICICI prudential Dynamc fund are not doing well in last 2-3 years. SBI Magnum Multicap is steady performer DSPBR opportunities is good  with more conservative approach Principal Emerging blue chips is also good but it is relatively younger fund & not exposed much to bear market. Pl. advise me to select multicap fund between SBI Magnum or Principal Emerging blue chip or DSPBR opportunities  OR any other better multicap you feel better. Thanks

Hi, If you look at the investment objective of Franklin Prima plus - "The scheme aims to provide growth of capital and regular dividend from a portfolio of equity, debt and money market instruments and focusing on wealth creating companies across all sectors and market cap ranges." So, based on the prevailing market circumstances, the fund manager can allocate higher amounts to specific sectors or market caps. As of now, the fund has higher allocation to large cap stocks, but as such it is still a multi-cap scheme. This is a good sign that the fund manager is actively involved in stock picking based on the market's ups and downs. By the by, all the above listed funds are good ones. Suggest you to compare them on risk ratios and you may revert to me. Kindly go through below articles, can be useful to you to do this exercise ; https://www.relakhs.com/best-mutual-fund-scheme-risk-ratios/ https://www.relakhs.com/mutual-fund-portfolio-overlap-comparison-tools/

Dear Manoj, Thank you for your appreciation! Very good effort in collating the basic details,Risk ratios and returns data on some Multi-cap funds.  I have gone through the sheet and based on the data, we can consider Franklin Prima plus, Kotak select focus and Birla Adv funds in the respective ranking order.
