Dear Sir,
In the “Filing Status” section of the ITR Form (AY 2019-2020) it is MANDATORY to show “Residential Status in India”. There are 3 options “Resident”, “Non-Resident” and “Resident but not Ordinarily Resident”
If I select option “Resident” there is other option to select to show how much days stayed in India last year. This is also MANDATORY.
As I am a Citizen of India, I have no passport and never went outside India, why it is mandatory for me to show how many days I stayed in India.
Without selecting the “Residential Status in India”, the ITR utility shows there is error.
Please guide me in this matter.
Thanks,
GDR

Dear GDR,
These are the new changes in ITR forms.
You can select the option ‘RES – Resident’ as Residential Status in India and Option ” You were in India for 182 days or more…” under Conditions for Residential Status row.
