Queries on Partial PF Withdrawal Claim (Incorrect Bank Account Number)

Q & A ForumCategory: Provident Fund (EPF & PPF)Queries on Partial PF Withdrawal Claim (Incorrect Bank Account Number)

I have requested for Partial withdrawal online which was also approved by the employer. The current status of the claim is "settled" However I noticed now that bank account seeded in UAN is incorrect. On raising grievance with EPFO, they say that amount has already been sent to bank for credit. However, my question is since bank account number is incorrect, what will happen? Also - can I now request for bank account updation online and get it approved by current employer? In that case, if the money will be returned by bank to EPFO, can I ask them again for crediting to the correct account? Please help with process.

Hi, If your bank account is incorrect, the payment made by EPFO will not be successful. After the monthly reconciliation, the amount will reflect back in EPFO database.  You may then have to submit re-authorization letter to EPFO (directly or through your employer). You may also try re-submitting the claim after checking with the EPFO as this is partial withdrawal and not a full claim. Meanwhile, you can update your correct bank account details and get them approved by your employer at the earliest. Below is one of my blog readers' experience which is similar to your issue (but this is for full balance withdrawal) ; "If your claim gets returned due to bank account issues(as mine didn’t had two zero’s before my account number) you will submit the re-authorization letter. The process was we need to wait till our cheque gets return to the PF department and it took around 45 days for me to get the cheque back. I have contacted the local EPFO office twice to know the status of my cheque. Only after the cheque gets returned they suggested me to submit the re-authorization letter. The form is simple to fill with your pf number, bank details, Ifsc code and address. You need to get it stamped by your ex-employer and submit the same in EPFO office manually. I got the message today that my claim has been settled. Please do let me know if any clarity is required as you are helping so many people and I may help you with the experience I have."
