Mutual fund investment – Automatic SIP vs Manual monthly investment

Q & A ForumCategory: Mutual FundsMutual fund investment – Automatic SIP vs Manual monthly investment

Hi Sree, I am investing in multiple mutual funds as SIP for long term. I have doubt about investment method. One scenario, I am investing 5000 every month in SBI Blue chip fund from last 6 months as SIP. This month i am planning to invest 5000 more under the same folio using the fund house online portal. Will it consider as separate investment or these new  units will add to total units ? is this method advisable or need to invest in a separate folio? Please clarify.

Hi, If you are investing as an existing investor by selecting the current Ledger folio of the scheme, the units will be added to the existing units and total units will be reflected in MF statement(s). Suggest you to invest in existing Folio itself.

Dear sreekanth, I am a new entrant to MF. I am ready to allocate Rs.3000 per month for a period of 3 years. No specific commitment for this amount. It is just an investment with decent returns and low risk. Regards Shanthi
