Dear Mr Sreekanth, 1.     Some how somewhere i have gone wrong that my mail has not reached you in pro[per sequence. I am forwarding it again.. 2.  I am 70 years old retired Army Officer and am drawing enough pension to take care of routine expenses, apart from this I have FDs in bank. Medically I am covered 100% Also i have invested about 4/5 months back in MF as under:- a)   BSL Medium term plan regular growth - Rs2.0 L - Debt Fund b)   Franklin India corporate bond opportunities fund growth -Rs 2.0 L - Debt Fundf c)    HDFC Bal Fund (G)- 1.8 L 3.   I am willing to spend about Rs 7 to 8 L in lump-sum, time frame is say 3 years or what ever you suggest.. Objective is additional money.. I plan 1.5L in ELSS for tax saving & bal for some other scheme. But being new to MF, I seek your help as to how to go about investing this amount. I have held up investment for fairly long as the buzz was to be more careful in the present scenario. So your guidance is solicited. Regards.Ranbir

Dear Ranbir ji, May I know your investment objective and time frame for the above mentioned three funds? 'Additional money' ? Do you mean by wealth accumulation or do you need periodic income from this corpus investment (Rs 7 lakh)?? I shall request for straight answer. I have gone in for full investment in SCSS & MIS (PO). Keen on investing in ELSS (Tax Saving) & some other MF for wealth accumulation. Keeping the age (70 yrs) in mind, your suggestion by name of MF is requested.

Dear Sir, If wealth accumulation is your investment objective and if you can remain invested for at least 5 years or so, under ELSS category : You may consider funds like Franklin india Tax shield fund. You may also consider balanced funds like HDFC Balanced fund and a large-cap/diversified equity funds like Birla Frontline Equity / Franklin Primaplus etc., Suggested readings : https://www.relakhs.com/best-mutual-fund-schemes-2017/ https://www.relakhs.com/best-balanced-mutual-fund-schemes-review/ https://www.relakhs.com/best-elss-funds-2017-2018/ https://www.relakhs.com/best-mutual-fund-scheme-risk-ratios/
