I left my job in 2013 but did not withdraw my EPF then. I did not join any job  afterwards. I also did not withdraw it in 2016 when my account became inoperative because of media reports that  inoperative accounts would also get interest I am 57 years old now. In 2019 after generation of UN number, I came to know that my PF office had not been giving any interest on my PF balance since 2016. When I complained to them, they told me that my account became inoperative and they had not  received any letter from the government about amendments in PF rules for giving interest  on inoperative accounts till the age 58 years. When I told them that this information was everywhere in the media that now the interest would be given on inoperative accounts. They told me that media was misguiding the EPF members. Now how can I solve this problem?

Dear Sir, The notification regarding payment of interest on EPF accounts came around July 2017 (as given in one of the images in the below suggested first article). But, with retrospective effect from Apr 2016. Ideally, the EPFO has to pay interest on the accumulated balance from Apr 2016 - till date. Suggest you to kindly submit a grievance request formally to them via this link. In case, you do not get the required information, you may submit an RTI asking for the latest amendment regarding inoperative EPF account and interest payment. Related articles :

The EPFO is giving interest from Nov 2016 and not from April 2016 on my inoperative account. Why are they not giving interest from April 2016 as per the notification? How can we rectify this problem?
