Dear Sreekanth, Last one year I am investing in HDFC Balance Fund (As SIP). Now this fund has changed with HDFC Hybrid Equity Fund. And this present fund’s category and fund performance is not clear. Should I continue this fund or quit from this fund. Regards, Ranjan

Dear Ranjan, If your investment time-frame is medium to long-term, you may continue with your investments in this fund.   Related article:  Best Mutual Funds 2018-19 | Top Equity Funds post SEBI’s Reclassification

Thanks for your advice

Dear Ranjan, You may retain any one out of these two funds. My personal choice would be SBI Bluechip. You may also consider switching to a Large cap based Index fund instead of having a large cap oriented actively managed fund. Ex : UTI Nifty Fund.

Dear Sreekanth, Last 3 year I continue investing HDFC mid cap opportunity direct fund as SIP, but continuously this fund performance is going down bcoz. of midcap sector problem. But at the same sector Axis midcap fund performance continuously doing well. standard deviation, sharp ratio, beta & alfa all are showing far better than HDFC midcap. now I am  getting confuse. cannot taking decision. Either I should continue HDFC midcap or  stop the SIP and start fresh SIP in Axis Midcap. Please give your suggestion. Regards, Ranjan

Dear Ranjan, Yes, its recent performance has not been matching its long track record. The standard deviation has been on the higher side for the last couple of years or so. But, let's not forget that this fund has been very consistent for the last many years. If we see its performance in the last 10 years, its still ranked at no.1 in terms of returns. But, may be its time to have slightly lower expectations. You may continue with it for some more time as of now! The other fund which really like is Franklin Prima fund in this category. Dear Ranjan, Are you referring to HDFC Equity and Hybrid funds? May I know the reason for your plan to stop investments in these funds? Are you investing in any other MF Schemes?

Hi, If your investment horizon is around 10 years; You may continue with large cap (SBI bluechip), HDFC Mid-cap funds. If you are planning to claim tax deduction u/s 80c then can continue your investments in Axis LTE.
