Hi, My father got a notice for the cash transaction in 2016 during demonetization and we started filing ITR since then. But our question is do we need to file ITR every year although his taxable income is lower than the limit? Our understanding is that If he has any TDS then only he needs to file the ITR. Please clarify.

Hi, It is generally not mandatory to file ITR if tax liability is NIL. But, advisable to file ITR irrespective of tax liability.  Related article : Do I need to file my Income Tax Return?
