I am retired last month from Govt. service after the age of 60 years. I am not yet withdrawn my EPF corpus available. Can I hold the EPF corpus in the EPF account itself for some more years? If I do so, please confirm whether the corpus is eligible for interest at the prevailing rate even after the age of retirement. I need an authentic clarification on this.

Hi,
As far as I know, the interest is payable even if there are no contributions, but EPFO is yet to issue an official notification on this, also I could not trace any official notification if an employee can continue the EPF balance even after retirement..
Thank you for your valuable reply. I got an unofficial information from local PF office that I can continue EPF balance after the age of retirement and that too with interest at prevailing rate. Please let me know if there is any authentic document in support of this. Can I get this query answered from any authorized source. My parent company is also believing this information and advising the employees who are retiring, to hold the PF balance in the account itself as safe tax-free investment. So I request you to use your good contact to get a proper clarification on this. Thanks
Hi,
I could not trace out any official notification reg this matter.
However, I have sent a message to one of my good friends who works for EPFO and awaiting his reply on this.
I will surely update this thread as soon as I receive the info..
This is to make you remember the above case.
Any EPFO official to give clarification?
