My son is 2 years old. Investing around 9K/month in equity and 4K/month in debt (ppf) for his higher education. My question is : is there any preferable option except ppf in debt (can fetch 7-8%). Also, should I continue SIP in Franklin smaller companies fund and Hdfc small cap ...also midcaps like Hdfc mid/Franklin prima ?

Hi, May I know if are you a Salaried individual and Contribute to EPF Scheme? Are you an existing Mutual Fund investor? If so, kindly share the Scheme names that you are currently invested in?? Do you have sufficient life insurance cover??

Sir I have previously verified my portfolio with you, these are my specific questions…(investing for past 8 years…Franklin smaller for 5 years… adequate insurance taken…state govt employee having GPF…) and Hdfc mid cap too unable to perform for quite long time probably due to large AUM.. what should I do with Hdfc mid cap and Franklin prima ?

Hi, Kindly note that the mid /small cap stocks have corrected significantly in the last 1-2 years, whereas the large-cap stocks performed relatively well. Hence, you can find that the funds with higher exposure to Giant/Large cap stocks are performing well and the mid-cap oriented funds can be giving negative returns. If you are a long term investor, you may continue with your investments. Do you hold both Franklin Prima and HDFC Mid-cap funds?  PPF is the best option under Debt products. You may increase your contribution to it.. Kindly invest in Equity/Debt based on your target Goal amount and tenure.
