Hi Sreekanth, I have started investing in MFs since last year and have already invested substantial amount of money in several funds. All were in lump sum mode and comprise both regular and direct plans (growth option only). I would like to invest more in the coming months. I have invested aggressively (33% debt and 67% equity) and would like to remain invested for at least next 5 years. I would appreciate your advice on re-balancing my portfolio (if needed) and buying new funds. It will be kind of you if could send me your personal email where I can provide you with the details of my investment portfolio. Thanks! Sanks (sanksha**@gmail.com)

Dear Sanks, I believe that you have invested in too many funds. Too much diversification may not be really beneficial. In case, your investment horizon is around 5 years, you may have a re-assess your allocation to Mid/Small cap funds. May allocate more monies to Large-cap / Balanced Funds. You may trim your equity funds list a bit. Dear Sanks, By re-assess, I mean % of corpus allocation to mid/small cap funds.  You may try investing more in balanced funds at least from here on, if you intend to withdraw the accumulation in next 4-5 years from now. You may make additional investments in your existing equity oriented balanced funds. You may try trimming down your portfolio if exit load and capital gain taxes are not applicable (12 months for equity funds).
