Respected Sir,
Your portal is really a good effort for educating people on financial issues. I have also a problematic issue.
Last year i.e. AY 2016 - 17, I filed my mother's return as legal heir. All went well. But she was having three fd accounts in which I am the second person. Since these fd accounts have my late mother's PAN , so TDS is being deducted in her name.
Now I can't file her return as it has been done last year i.e. AY 2016 -17. I know that interest on these three fd accounts is my income, but TDS has been deducted in my Mother's Pan Card. Since TDS certificate are issued online, Bank says they will issue TDS certificate in my Late mother's name.
So for AY 2017 - 18 , how can i claim this TDS as it is much more than my tax liability knowing the fact that TDS certificate is in my Late mother's name.
Please guide me in this matter as TDS amount is more than 30000.00 and I have no clues what to do

Hi,
Kindly note that you need to inform your banker about the unfortunate event and update their records.
There are conflicting opinions on these kind of scenarios.
May be, I believe that you can file your mother's ITR as a legal heir one more time and claim TDS refund.
And also include the interest income on FDs in your ITR and file taxes accordingly.
Suggest you to also consult a CA.
