Switching of Scheme in MF

Q & A ForumCategory: Mutual FundsSwitching of Scheme in MF

I invest in Mutual fund thro' HDFC ISA account. While switching of schemes I find that it does not allow from one MF to another MF. I have HDFC top 200 and HDFC equity which I think I can switch over. which is the best in large cap in HDFC MF so that I can switch it over or u feel HDFC balanced would be best ? Alternatively, will it be advisable to redeem and invest in some other MF large cap? Time frame is 5 years

Hi, Are you referring to switching across schemes offered by different mutual fund houses? If it is within same fund house, switching is allowed. For this, an investor has to fill 'Switch' form and submit it. For a time-frame of 5 years, large cap or an Equity oriented balanced fund can be considered. HDFC balanced fund is a good option.

I have invested in eq mf thru sip. If i switch the existing corpus from eq mf to balanced mf in same fund house what are the tax implications, specialy for those units which are less then 1 yr old. Regards Anand

Dear Anand, The tax implications remain same, as if normal redemption happens. Gains (if any) on Units which are less than 12 months hold are taxable at 15% (if equity funds). Kindly read : https://www.relakhs.com/mutual-funds-taxation-rules-capital-gains-tax-rates-on-mfs-fy-201516/
