selling property, after name change

Q & A ForumCategory: Real Estateselling property, after name change
daisy asked 9 years ago
I purchased a flat in Mumbai and after few years, I changed my name based on numerology advice. Change was affected in gazette, affidavit, society share certificate, passport, bank, utility bills etc  etc. Now I am planning to sell the flat, but my stamp duty and registration receipt and original property purchase agreement has my old name on it. Does it create a problem in selling the flat? What procedure is to be followed here?

Hi, You may have to execute a Rectification Deed and get your name updated in Sale deed (for this, you may have to take help of ex-owner also). Once this is done, you have to update your Mutation property record too (property tax record). Suggest you to take help of a Civil lawyer. (Request you to update the status in this thread, can be useful to other blog readers as well, thank you!). Kindly read : https://www.relakhs.com/mutation-property-transfer-title-records/
