I am a senior citizen  but  not having any mediclaim policy.  I spent 70000 as medical expenses in a hospital. Is there any provision to get  income tax  rebate on the money spent.

Dear Sir, For very Senior citizens who are above the age of 80 years and who are not eligible to take health insurance, deduction is allowed for Rs 30,000 towards medical expenditure for FY 2017-18.  If you are a senior citizen (aged between 60-80 years) with no medical insurance then you can claim only up to Rs 5,000 towards preventive health check-ups (if any).
