Hello Sreekanth.. just needed your opinion on Personal Accidental Insurance Gaurd offered by Bajaj Alliance. Im a working corporate executive and spend a lot of time travelling on roads. Delhi tops in no.of road accident cases in the country. I have myself lost a close friend on a road rage. Considering the level of risk, do you suggest buying a stand alone PA insurance.

Dear Navjot, This should be your top most priority action item. Kindly buy a stand-alone policy, no second-thoughts :) Read:

Thank you Shreekant. I also plan to buy a term insurence plan ( Product Name HDFCclicktoprotect ) which provides the insured a cover of one crore in case of unfortunate death of the insured. I want to know incase of accidental death, can the insured Family claim both the cover, i.e 1crore emanating from the life insurence and the sum-assured covered under PA insurence or is there cap on the amount payable to the nominee.

Hi, If one opts for PA rider then if there is any claim due to accidental death, base cover + sum assured under PA rider, both will be paid. Kindly read: HDFC Click2Protect Plus review.

I thought the PA rider is better than stand alone PA insurence policies as the latter provides more coverage in PA domain. The standalone PA coverage offered by Bajaj Allaince cover the following : Death due to accident ( Basic ) Permanent Disability due to accident ( Still Basic ) Partial Disability due to accident ( Comprehensive ) Temporary Disability ( Very comprehensive ).

Hi, Your comment is a bit confusing. Which one do you think is a better option - PA rider (or) a Stand-alone PA plan?
Navjot Sinh replied 10 years ago

Hi Shreekanth…sorry for the confusion. I meant its better to go for a stand alone PA cover than PA rider offered by motor insurence and even some employers like mine. This is because Stand Alone PA cover looks more comprehensive and looks to provide extended coverage when compared with PA rider. Love to hear your thoughts on it

Hi Navjot, Yes, ideally one should consider buying a Stand-alone Personal Accident Insurance plan instead of going for PA rider. Most of the PA riders do not provide 'disability' risk cover. Read: Best Personal Accident Insurance Plans.
