Sir, My debt MF is maturing shortly. As I understand, the income / gains are taxed after indexation. If after indexation there is a loss , will it be treated as negative income for taxation?

Hi, Since how long you been holding the Units? Yes, can be considered as Capital loss. Tthe long-term losses on sale of such units can be set-off against any other  (except Equity funds) long-term capital gains in the same Fin year. If one cannot set-off capital losses in the same year, the losses can be carried forward for eight years for set-off against capital gains in subsequent years.   http://www.relakhs.com/short-term-capital-losses-stocks-set-off/ http://www.relakhs.com/mutual-funds-taxation-rules-capital-gains-tax-rates-on-mfs-fy-201516/
