Hello, We purchased a flat in noida extention, me as main owner and my husband as co-owner. Registry is due in within month. All the documents have maiden name. Now I need to change my name. Builder is charging 11000, and there are a lot of formalities. My questions are as follows:
  1. What is preferable, we change name before regisstry or after registry?
  2. If we change it after registry what will be the charges for name change in registry.
Thanks!!!

Hi, I believe that it is better to get the name updated before the Registration. Once the registration is done, to update the name, you have two options :
  • You have to publish your new name in official Govt gazette and give ad in newspapers. (or)
  • You need to rectify your Deed, not advisable to go for this rectification of Deed.
I am not sure about the cost involved, suggest you to kindly consult a local civil lawyer.
