Hi Sreekanth, I have immigrated to Canada recently, my last working date for my Indian employer was 17th November 2017. I wont be able to withdraw EPF/EPS onine because I do not have any mobile number linked with my ADHAAR. Since I am abroad now, I cannot visit aadhar kendra anytime soon to add my mobile number. This seems to be the only option to add my mobile number to Adhaar. I do not wish to wait till my visit to India next year, and looking for other options. I do not want to go through my employer. Can I courier composite claim form directly to EPF office instead of doing it online? There are 2 forms one for Aadhaar and the other for non Aadhaar. Which one should I send? I have all KYC details/aadhaar number  seeded in EPFO portal. I have downloaded the forms from this link: http://epfindia.gov.in/site_en/WhichClaimForm.php#Q3

Hi, You can submit Composite claim form (Aadhaar) one directly by speed post or normal post (not courier) to the EPFO regional office where your EPF ac is being administered. Do enclose cancelled cheque leaf (name should have been imprinted on cheque leaf), PAN card copy and Form 15G (if required - if withdrawal is above Rs 2.5 Lakh, EPFO generally deducts TDS).  Also, do note that any withdrawal before 5 year service period is a taxable income. Thanks Sreekanth. My service tenure is more than 5 years and the amount is more than 5 lakhs. Do I need to give pan or 15g. I think it won't be taxable. Please confirm.

Hi, If we go by rule-book, any withdrawal after 5 year service period is not taxable. But, I have observed that in few cases, EPFO deducts TDS if withdrawal is more than Rs 2.5 Lakh. In that case, one can claim it as Refund (if any) while filing income tax return. As the systems at EPFO are getting streamlined, may be they will follow the same guidelines (rule-book) across different regional offices.
