Respected Sir, Please clarify the matter. I was informed on e return helpline that I can file maximum two returns of my father as legal heir. Is this true?

Hi, The legal heir has to file for all the income earned by the deceased person till date of his / her death in a FY in the name of deceased person represented by a legal heir.. The income (if any) earned during the rest of the relevant FY has to file by legal heir in his / her name. This is the available information. If the IT dept has confirmed that a legal heir can file two ITRs on behalf of the deceased person then it might be correct or allowed. Suggest you to submit your grievance or info request through e-Nivaran portal and you may get a written confirmation (email ) on this. (If you get confirmation from the IT dept on this topic, kindly post the update here, can be useful to other blog readers as well).
