My uncle is an PSU employee, going to retire in June 2017. He wants to invest in mutual fund as well as fixed deposits with banks. Considering his age, I want to suggest him a balanced portfolio with regular income. Can you please give me some investment suggestions.

May I know what do you mean by 'balanced portfolio with regular income'?
Is your uncle going to depend entirely on the regular income generated by this corpus? Does he has any other source of income? (assuming he is going to get pension??)
Let me know if he has adequate Health insurance cover?
Any one who is financially dependent on him? Any financial liabilities?
