Sir,
Came across a talk on TED about people investing in TOBACCO Cos , inadvertently / un knowingly.
My query is, how do I find out if the M F I am investing , are investing in any tobacco product / Co. It is difficult for a lay man to know from the name of the Co if it is involved in Tobacco ( other than some well known Co like ITC etc).
If I put the query to the M F House, will / should / must they relply ?
I would like NOT to invest in such Cos/ products knowingly.

Dear Anand,
You can go through the Funds' portfolios and check if they invest in any Tobacco related company or not. This can be a challenging task.
Kindly note that a Fund's portfolio may change over a period of time. You may invest in a fund which has not invested in a tobacoo related industry but after few months the same fund may pick a stock related to that industry. So, it is very tough to track this...
If you have expertise with Stock markets or if you have employed any financial advisor to manage your finances then you may build your own Equity portfolio.
Sir, thanks. What about second part of My query . If I ask the M F house are they duty bound to give a reply
