Hi Mr. Srikanth, I am an NRI, living in UAE. I visit my home twice a year for maximum period of 30 days. I have a health insurance policy in UAE. Therefore, I feel that getting a travel insurance whenever I visit to India instead of having a health insurance policy which will be cost-effective. Awaiting your valuable reply. Regards

Hi, May I know if your health insurance plan covers any hospitalization (god forbids) that happen in India? I believe that you should take Travel insurance as well. No. My health insurance does not cover any hospitalization in India and it covers within UAE. Therefore, will it be a better idea to have a travel insurance instead of health insurance policy in India? for 20L health insurance policy, I need to pay around INR 15-20k as yearly premium in India where as travel insurance will be less than INR 5000/- for one month. Kindly revert with your thoughts… Thanks & Regards.

Hi, Did you go through the suggested article? I believe that travel insurance is not an alternative to health insurance. If you visit India frequently and have plans to come back to India, may be it is prudent to have a mediclaim policy here in India as well.

In case, you need a health insurance plan in future in India, it can be a costly affair (due to age factor)..

Good day,

Presently, I am in India and all insurance providers need AADHAR for getting health insurance in India. Is Aadhar mandatory for availing health insurance? If yes, how can NRIs get this facility? Appreciate your valuable reply. Thanks in adavance.

Best regards…

Hi, Aadhaar is not applicable for NRIs. You may kindly inform that your Residential Status is NRI.
