Hi,
I have changed 4 jobs in 11 years, presently working abroad from 3.5 years. All the bank account from my previous companies were salary account, which I did not close while leaving. Now all these accounts would have become dormant accounts. I don't even have the account numbers details for few.
Is there a problem if I don't close the account and leave it as dormant? If, I have to close, how? And will there be penalty? And how to close the account, which I don't have the account details?
Thank you.

Hi,
You may try finding out your Bank account numbers details on your Payslips or Final settlement documents etc.,
If minimum balance (if any) has to be maintained , and your dormant bank accounts' balance is below this threshold then banks may charge you penalty on reactivation of these accounts.
Kindly go through below article, can be useful to you;

Thanks, I have just kept the appointment letters, relieving letter, and other office related papers which have no mention of my bank account details.
I just remember the city and the branch of the particular banks, so I am thinking may be I can just send them a mail and see if they can help.
As it was salary account, there was no minimum balance to be maintained. So the balance in all accounts is zero. Even if I just want to close the account not reactivate it, still would I have to pay the penality? Will they not automatically close my account after a certain period for non activation.
Hi,
Without bank account number the customer care people may not be able to help you unless you visit the branches in person...
In case, you have funds./deposits in your accounts, kindly refer to the unclaimed article and follow the steps to identify your bank accounts.
When you visit India, you may close these bank accounts.
