Dear Sir, I've been filing ITR-1 form until last year as I don't have any taxble income in India. I heard that NRIs can't use ITR-1 from this year and instead should file ITR-2. Do we need to file ITR-2 even if there is no taxable income? Please advise.

Hi, However, NRIs will no longer be able to file returns using the simple income tax return (ITR)-1 form, which can now only be used by residents. NRIs will have to use ITR-2, which seeks more information. Even in case of no taxable income, an NRI who now wishes to file his/her ITR for FY 2017-18 / AY 2018-19 can not file ITR-1.   Related articles : https://www.relakhs.com/ay-2018-19-income-tax-return-filing-new-itr-forms/ https://www.relakhs.com/income-tax-return-filing/ https://www.relakhs.com/residential-status-calculator-nri-taxation/ https://www.relakhs.com/double-taxation-avoidance-agreement/

Dear Sir,

Sorry for the delay in reply. I didn’t get any email notification. Is there any help to fill ITR-2 please? I never filled it before.
