Hi, My wife has worked for an employer for 3years and 8 months. She resigned from the org in 2014, after that she didn't go to the job. SO her taxable income is 0. Her PF is not verified in the UAN Portal, Aadhar is linked. Now facing issue with the online claim, and 34+% is taxable and it will be deducted as TDS, I hope I can file a return but only in 2019. What is the best way to claim the whole amount(total amount is 1,10,000), we need this money for her delivery. Thanks in advance, Ramkumar

Dear Ramkumar, To avoid TDS, the options are to link PAN to UAN and get it verified by the ex-employer. Else, she can submit the CCF-Aadhaar form, along with a copy of self-attested PAN card, Aadhaar card, bank cheque leaf (cancelled and the name should have been imprinted on it), form 15G to the EPF regional office directly (the office where her EPF ac is being maintained).  Offline claims are generally settled within 30 days whereas online claims within 10 to 15 days. Kindly note that even if TDS is not deducted, the full withdrawals before 5 year service period is a taxable income. In case, if total taxable income is less than basic exemption limit (Rs 2.5 lakh) in the current FY 2018-19 then tax liability will be nil for AY 2019-20.
